On November 23, 2014 at 6:30 pm at Big Sandy High School gym, the community will gather to recognize and celebrate the athletic achievements of Big Sandy alumnus Barry Helton.
Barry was a four year letter-man in football, basketball, and baseball, garnering many awards including national records in football.
After graduating valedictorian of the class of 1983, he played scholarship football for the University of Colorado at Boulder where he became a two time All American punter.
Drafted in the 4th round by the San Francisco 49ers as a punter, he was part of two winning Super Bowl teams in the 1988 and 1989 seasons. He was inducted into the Colorado High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
The achievement ceremony, sponsored by the Big Sandy Alumni Association, will be followed by a reception put on by the Simla Cubs Booster Club.
Dress is casual.
