Recent awards received by Big Sandy Schools, include:
• 2024 “Accredited with Distinction”, CDE’s highest ranking for school districts. We are the 6th Highest Academically Ranked school district in Colorado.
• 2023 Simla Elementary School and Simla Junior High School receive awards for being within the top 16 Science Schools in Colorado.
• 2022, 2023 and 2024 Simla Elementary School, Simla Junior High School, and Simla High School all receive the state’s highest ranking of “Performance.”
• 2022 Colorado Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award for Simla Junior High for Exceptional Student Growth
• 2020 and 2021, because of COVID, the state did not rank schools.
• 2018 US News, Simla High School a Best High School in Colorado and Nationally (In Colorado one of top 72 High Schools out of 420 High Schools).
