Big Sandy February Accountability Minutes

The meeting was called to order.
Board Report-Mr. Wilson’s evaluation was completed, the calendar was presented to Accountability and will be sent to the Board for approval for the 2016-17 school year, legislators are in session discussing finance and assessment bills, the facility warranty check list is about complete, the insurance settlement for this past summer’s storm is settled with work scheduled for next summer, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Dole updated the bus replacement plan, Mr. Wilson also completed our technology purchase plan, the focus of the staff work day yesterday was training for the upcoming State assessments and our Safety program, and Mr. Wilson shared the results of the staff climate survey.

Elementary Report-Our students are getting ready to exercise on Friday, February 12th, and have their Valentine’s Day Parties, Writing Month was a success, Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 18th with students being dismissed at 1:30 p.m. and conferences starting at 2:00 p.m., staffing patterns for next year and schedules are starting to be developed, there have been a number of out of district inquiries for next school year, and the staff is preparing for State assessments.

Secondary Report-Valograms will be delivered Thursday and Friday, FBLA District Competition is today, Feb. 9th, content meetings are being held, graduation requirements are being reviewed and will be presented to the Committee and Board of Education for approval in the future. We plan on keeping the required units or classes. Then we will choose from the options for assessments with defined proficient scores. The last requirement will be for students to complete the Capstone of Senior Seminar.

Kid’s Korner-STUCO activities are going strong, District FBLA competed today, Matchwits continues to compete each month, Winter Sports post season games and matches will start the end of this month, SADD is planning a drug awareness assembly in May, and the Prom is scheduled for April 30th.

Key Communicators-Elementary basketball is about to wrap up, the Simla Library Writing Contest went well, Crossroads is sponsoring a number of activities with fund raising for the Mexico Trip and DARE to SHARE being planned, and PeeWee Wrestling has started.

Title I-No update at this time.

Preschool-Mrs. Jones presented the updated enrollment forms and handbooks in accordance to CDE guidelines. Our Preschool Round Up will be held in conjunction with the Kindergarten Round Up on April 15th. The annual year-end report is due in April. The TSG Winter Checkpoints have been submitted and Mrs. Jones is attending the Preschool Conference next week.
