Dear Parents and Guardians of Big Sandy Secondary Students:
This year we will be doing something a little different in the secondary and implementing a finals schedule for the Spring Semester 2019. All secondary teachers will be required to give a final in each class.
This final may range from a cumulative test, chapter test, performance assessment, project–it is what the teacher feels is an appropriate way to assess for each particular class. The teacher will let the students know what is to be expected for their final.
The schedule will be as follows for High School:
Wednesday May 22
- 8:00 – 9:55 a.m. 1st hour final
- 10:05 – 12:00 p.m. 3rd hour final
- 2:00 – 12:37 p.m. LUNCH
- 12:40 -2:45 p.m. 5th hour final
Thursday May 23
- 8:00 – 9:55 a.m. 2nd hour final
- 10:05 – 12:00 p.m. 4th hour final
- 12:00 – 12:37 p.m. LUNCH
- 12:40 – 2:45 p.m. 6th hour final
Friday May 24
- 8:00 – 9:55 a.m. 7th hour final
- 10:00 – 10:30 Locker Clean Out and complete checkout process.

- 9:55 – 11:45 a.m. 3rd hour final
- 11:48 – 12:37 p.m. LUNCH
- 12:40 – 2:45 p.m. 5th hour final

- 8:00 – 9:55 a.m. 2nd hour final
- 10:05 – 12:00 p.m. 4th hour final
- 12:00 – 12:37 p.m. LUNCH
- 12:40 – 2:45 p.m. 6th hour final
Friday May 24
- 8:00 – 9:55 a.m. 7th hour final
- 10:00 – 10:30 Locker Clean Out and complete checkout process.
On Wednesday and Thursday at 2:45 p.m. secondary students will be allowed to check out with parent permission and after they have completed their finals for the day. If students ride the bus or are not checked out, we will have brain break activities planned for the afternoon that students can participate in. This is also a time for students to complete finals that may have not been finished during their allotted time.
If students are unable to be at school during their finals time they are responsible to set up a time with that teacher to make up their final after 10:30 a.m. on Friday or the week following Memorial Day. There will be no finals given early unless there are extenuating circumstances and must be pre-approved by the teacher and school principal.
